Scaffolding Net, Safety Net or Barrier Net: Which Does Your Site Need?
On a construction site, “safety net” can mean three different things: a net that stops debris from falling, a net that catches a person, or a net that keeps people out of an area. Start with the job the net has to do, then pick the size and material.
1. Stop debris from falling: scaffolding nets
Scaffolding nets, also called debris nets, wrap around the scaffold so that plaster, stones, tools and materials do not fall onto people, vehicles or property below. The mesh lets air through while cutting down wind and rain, which also makes the site more comfortable to work in.
HDPE Heavy Duty Scaffolding Net: 165 GSM, 4m x 50m, green or black.
PE Scaffolding Net: 1.8m x 20m, green, blue or orange.
Both are available in fire-retardant versions (BS 7955).
2. Where fire is a concern: fire-retardant safety net
Our Fire Retardant Safety Net is NFPA 701 certified and keeps its fire-retardant properties outdoors. Hemmed edges and eyelets make it easy to hang or tie down, and it helps contain dust. 1.8m x 5.1m in grey, orange or blue.
3. Catch a fall: anti-fall safety net
An anti-fall safety net catches workers where a fall cannot be prevented directly, such as under factory roofs and on bridge works. Ours is 5mm polyester with a 2" x 2" mesh and a tie rope at each corner. Stock sizes are 1m x 1m and 3m x 3m, and other sizes are made to order. The same net is also used to hold cargo on flatbed trucks.
4. Keep people out: barrier fencing
Orange Barrier Fence: bright orange polypropylene, 1m x 15m rolls, UV resistant. For construction sites, road works, events and crowd control.
PE Plastic Chain: 6mm in red, yellow or green, for barriers, traffic cones and signs. Does not rust.
Checklist before you order
What must the net do: contain debris, catch a person, or mark a boundary?
How much area do you need to cover? One 4m x 50m roll covers 200 m². One 1.8m x 20m roll covers 36 m².
Does your project require fire-retardant netting? Check with your site safety officer or main contractor.
