Galvanised Chain

Hot-dipped galvanized chain is a type of chain that has undergone a galvanization process to protect it from corrosion. The chain is made from steel and is coated with a layer of zinc through a hot-dip galvanization process.

In the hot-dip galvanization process, the chain is first cleaned and then immersed in a bath of molten zinc. The zinc bonds with the steel to create a protective layer that helps to prevent corrosion and rust. This process creates a durable and long-lasting finish that is ideal for use in marine environments, where the chain is exposed to saltwater and other harsh elements.

Hot-dipped galvanized chain is commonly used in a variety of applications, including mooring lines, anchor chains, and lifting chains. It is also used in industrial settings for conveyor systems, chain slings, and other heavy-duty applications.

One of the main advantages of hot-dipped galvanized chain is its resistance to corrosion, which helps to prolong its lifespan and reduce maintenance costs. The protective layer of zinc also provides a smooth surface that is easy to handle and less likely to cause damage to other equipment or surfaces.

When selecting a chain, it is important to take into account its loading capacity and certification. Unless certified for lifting, a chain should not be used for lifting purposes, but can be used for suspension purposes.

Non-lifting chains can be used for securing things such as gates or gas cylinders in light to medium duty applications.
